If your cat is experiencing skin allergies caused by their diet, this video is for you. Dr. Andrew Jones discusses the signs of food allergies in cats, such as skin lesions, excessive grooming, and gastrointestinal issues like vomiting and diarrhea. These are common symptoms of a cat food allergy, and understanding them is the first step in finding a solution.

In this video, Dr. Jones provides a holistic approach to treating food allergies in cats. He recommends eliminating fish from your cat’s diet, a common allergen, and introducing Krill Oil (155mg per day) to reduce inflammation and promote skin health. A topical skin balm applied twice a day for a week can help soothe irritated skin, while Licorice Root (a quarter ml twice daily for 14 days) and Propolis spray (twice a day on the affected area for 14 days) offer natural healing properties.

  1. Doc my kitty has had this problem for years now. He did have fleas twice before and he gets these lesions on his back. This time I found no fleas at all any where and I vacuumed and used DE in one of the bedrooms. He has been scratching exactly that same area of his ear and has little bumps along his neck when I pet him. I feed him almost all wet food and now both my kitties are addicted to fish. I give them a taurine supplement. But I’m wondering maybe all this fish has led to the allergy popping up (and maybe EGC is the back lesion). I go to the vet every time and they just give flea meds and they treat the lesion with triamcinalone ointment.

  2. Any recommendations for a cat who is on just 1/4 of a 5mg pill of prednisolone a day… I’d like to get him off the steroid but I do not want Atopica or taking him in for shots every two weeks. I will lose my cat with those two methods as all he will do is hide from me all day every day. 🥺 Is there a cat safe human allergy pill he can take instead..? He has tried all kinds of food and methods over the years… Only thing that has worked is the low dose of prednisolone a day. I can’t afford the long list of things the vet wants …and this is his last refill they will do without exam..blood work..updated shots etc. 😭

  3. So fish can cause allergies? Can fish oil do that too? Can omega-3 fatty acids be purchased without fish oil?
